OnePlus has officially announced a date for the global release of its first 2022 flagship, the OnePlus 10 Pro. The Snapdragon 8 Generation 1 phone will be available in North America, Europe, and India by the end of March.
The OnePlus 10 Pro is the company’s fastest-selling phone in China, according to the company. The handset was released in January in OnePlus’ home land, and according to the company, it earned 100 million Yuan (a little more than $15 million) in its first and second open sales.
If you’re wondering why OnePlus didn’t release the phone in the United States sooner, the company has provided an answer. During a media roundtable, CEO Pete Lau stated that software development for worldwide markets takes longer due to factors such as carrier compliance.
Lau promised that the company would work at solving this issue in the future and shorten the gap between launches in China and the rest of the world.
New software incoming?
In terms of software, the OnePlus 10 Pro will ship with Oxygen OS 12.1 out of the box. If you were hoping to experience OnePlus’ previously stated “unified OS,” you should be aware that the firm has opted to abandon such ambitions. At least on the worldwide variants of OnePlus phones, Oxygen OS is here to stay.
Furthermore, OnePlus confirmed that Oxygen OS 13 is now under development. Given that OnePlus maintains a three-year upgrade strategy for the most of its recent flagships, the 10 Pro should be receiving the latest Oxygen OS version later this year.
It’s worth remembering that the OnePlus 10 Pro will be the company’s solitary flagship next month. There are no plans of announcing a vanilla OnePlus 10 just yet.
