Samsung is reportedly aiming to bring an S Pen slot to its future foldables. The company listed this as one of several challenges in a meeting with suppliers. Other hurdles to address include thinner and lighter designs, better cameras, and a smaller crease.

With the release of the Galaxy S22 Ultra earlier this year, Samsung introduced a S Pen slot to the Galaxy S series for the first time. Fans of the stylus pen will be disappointed to see that Samsung left the slot out of the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Now, Samsung has revealed that one of the issues that needs to be resolved to increase the popularity of foldables at a meeting with suppliers to discuss its foldable phone strategy (h/t: The Elec and SamMobile).

Making the phones stronger, more robust, minimizing the size of the display crease, and enhancing the cameras are some of the additional problems mentioned by Samsung.

Surprisingly, The Elec also provided some insight into possible alternatives for the present Fold concept. Samsung allegedly wanted a S Pen slot on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 Foldables at first, but this obviously didn’t happen. Additionally, it stated that due to concerns about thickness and weight, Samsung’s plans for “additional high-end camera modules” were shelved.

However, we’re certain that many people would like to see a S Pen slot on a future Samsung Galaxy Z Foldable series model. For optimal ease, a dedicated slot seems like the logical next step given that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and 4 already support the S Pen and provide a larger canvas than the S22 Ultra.
