In general, all Android smartphones can capture screenshots in the same way, however Samsung phones are a little different. There are various ways to snap screenshots on the Galaxy S22 series. We’ll show you every one of them.
Table of contents
Power + Volume Down
Taking a screenshot on an Android smartphone is as simple as hitting two physical buttons at the same time. This is likewise true for taking screenshot on the Galaxy S22.
Simply hold down the Power Button (also known as the Side Key) and the Volume Down key until the screen flashes.
A little floating toolbar will emerge, from which you may modify the screenshot or save it to your picture gallery app.
The Palm Gesture
The second technique does not involve the usage of any buttons. Simply glide the side of your palm horizontally over the display instead. This technique must be enabled in Settings.
To begin, swipe down from the top of the screen once and press the gear symbol.
Scroll down to the “Advanced Features.”
Now go to “Motions and Gestures.”
Toggle the switch on for “Palm Swipe to Capture” if it’s not already.
To make the gesture, place the pinky side of your open palm on the display and slide it from right to left. When the screenshot is captured, the screen will flash.
Capture a Long or Scrolling Screenshot
You may wish to capture more than what is shown on the screen at times. You may snap a lengthy screenshot using the “Scroll Capture” function.
Begin by capturing a screenshot using one of the ways listed above. Choose the arrows-in-a-box symbol from the floating toolbar this time.
The screen will automatically scroll down and the screenshot will enlarge. Tap the button once more to scroll down. Repeat until the snapshot has all you desire.
Now you can tap the crop icon to finish.
Use the crop tool to adjust the screenshot, then tap the save icon to download the screenshot to your Gallery app.
Via Smart Select
Although Android makes it simple to trim a screenshot immediately after taking it, you may avoid doing so on Samsung phones by using the “Smart Select” function. This enables you to capture a specified portion of the screen.
We must first enable a useful feature known as “Edge Panels.” Swipe down from the top of the screen once, then hit the gear symbol.
Next, go to the “Display” section.
Toggle the “Edge Panels” switch on and then tap the name.
You’ll see a little animation that shows how Edge Panels can be accessed. Go to “Panels.”
Here are all the panels you can use. The one we need to enable is the “Smart Select” panel.
With that done, let’s find something to capture and slide out the Edge Panel from the side of the display.
You may have to swipe left or right through the panels to get the Smart Select tools. It has “Rectangle” and “Oval” screenshot options to choose from.
A rectangle or oval shape will appear as an overlay on the screen. Drag the handles around to select the area you want to capture. Tap “Done” when you’re ready.
An edit screen will appear with options to “Extract Text” from the image, draw on it, and share it. Tap the save icon when you’re finished.
Using Bixby to take screenshot
The last method doesn’t require touching your Galaxy S22 at all. Samsung’s “Bixby” virtual assistant can take a screenshot on the Galaxy S22 with a voice command.
If you haven’t already, you’ll need to login in with your Samsung account before we can utilise Bixby.
We’ll need to enable the wake-up command once Bixby is ready to go. This is how you can capture a screenshot without having to open Bixby first. Tap the hamburger menu symbol in the top-left corner to open the Bixby app.
Select the gear icon to go to the Settings.
Toggle the switch on for “Voice Wake-Up.”
Bixby will guide you through the process of training your voice.
Now all you have to do is say “Hi Bixby, take a screenshot” whenever you want to take one.
The screen will flash, and you’ll get the usual floating toolbar to edit the screenshot. If you want to disable Bixby on your Samsung device you can do it easily.
There are plenty of methods to choose from for taking screenshot on the Galaxy S22. One of these methods should fit nicely into your habits.
